Alpe Soladino

Alpine time with your dog

Walk up and settle into the rhythm of the mountains: discover a working Ticino alp with traditional stone cottages, animals and space to enjoy nature.

A special place in the Maggia Valley

Alpe Soladino lies at 1,140 metres in a side valley of Valle Maggia. From Ascension Day to mid-October, alpine farming, free-roaming farm animals and the Ticino mountains shape daily life. Goat cheese is also made here. The site is run by the Onidalos association.

This is a place for simple alpine holidays and a slower pace. If you enjoy nature, shared living and an active walk to your destination, it offers a distinctive break away from the road.

Bringing your dog

Dogs are welcome. According to the alp's guidance, dogs without reliable recall must stay on a lead. As the animals roam freely, consideration for the resident animals is essential.

Please note: Fiocco, the white donkey, has had a bad experience after being bitten by a dog and may react accordingly. Discuss your visit and how to behave around the animals directly with the team in advance.

The walk is part of the experience

The alp can only be reached on foot. The demanding ascent gains around 700 metres. A T3 mountain hiking trail leads up from Someo. Plan according to your experience, fitness and your dog's ability; the team recommends contacting them before setting off in bad weather.
